Happy Spring 2008- The Beans have been busy.
David is now seeing the USF Physicians Group for
his diabetes and we are awaiting an insulin
pump. We've selected the Animas 2020 pump and
hope it will simplify our lives to some degree.
We are planning the 2008 Children with Diabetes
again this year, for a shorter period and to do
the trade shows at the Rennaisance Sea World
Resort.
Clarice sold Sam and has a new horse, her name
is Val, a 5 y/o Chestnut quarter horse mare by
Skys Blue Boy. We absolutely love her, it's nice
to have a mare again! We realized we missed
Sugar way too much!
Look for show updates soon.

January 2008
The Beans made it through the holidays with
relatively little incidence..No
hospitalizations. Big David had his wisdom teeth
removed at Thanksgiving..poor boy..he was in so
much pain!
Little David is in 6th grade, making straight A's
in honors classes and has not missed any school
yet. He loves school and is doing well, his
diabetes is under control, although his A1C
levels are a bit high, which means his pancreas
is not working to full level, which we knew was
coming to an end. He still takes 2 shots/day and
monitors his blood glucose levels many times per
day.
We hope to be on a pump very soon, we have
selecte the Animas 2020 pump and it's pretty
cool You can check it out on www.animas.com if
you wish to see what it will do for him.
Animals and the rest of the family are doing well.

Back to School and it's Middle School
David started middle school last Monday, he's a
6th grader and loves it. We had our first major
insulin low on day 2 but worked through it, David
now knows he must eat lunch even if he runs out
of time and his teachers and office staff know
that he cannot miss eating lunch and snacks at
all!
David's last Dr. visit went well, he lost 2 lbs
and grew an inch, he's following in his dad's
footsteps and will be tall, too bad he does not
like to play basketball.
Clarice and Sam are continuing to show, they took
home a few ribbons a few weeks back from the
Sumter Equestrian Center show in Bushnell Fl an
hour north of Tampa..nice facility and tons of
fun.
We have the yearly Labor Day QH show upcoming and
are looking forward to showing under saddle and
possibly jumping.

Home from Friends for Life, Children with Diabetes
We just returned home from
Disney's Ft.
Wilderness and Coronado Springs Resort for a week
of education on juvenile diabetes. Mom and Dad
got to learn lots of information and David was
treated to meeting sports starts, music stars and
American Idol stars and even Miss America Nicole
Johnson 1999. We met country music star George
Canyon and he did a wonderful guitar acapella
sing for a small group of about 1000 folks, he
spoke to our children and signed our CD and
talked to David about what it's like living with
Type 1 Diabetes. We met tons of new friends and
will spend time with them from now on every
summer in Orlando, we hope to begin traveling to
other locations eventually, Canada and Dubai.
David is doing well with his diabetes, the horse
and all the other pets are doing well too.
New pics from Orlando will be added soon.
Love to All!

Updates
Little David is moving on to Middle School in the
fall. He had an endo Dr. appointment right
before school let out. He has grown an inch with
no weight gain since February. We are doing
GREAT! His A1C numbers, a target for diabetics
was dead on. We are monitoring closely and doing
well with our diets. Our entire family has been
carb counting and eating no sugar foods and we're
all getting very skinny..the incredible shrinking
Bean family.
Clarice continues to show Sam in open shows and
they are doing well. She has started jumping with
her instructor Lauren Steffey. Sam loads and
unloads in the trailer like a pro. He's coming
along well, we will not be showing Quarter Horse
until next year, he needs to mature a lot! Added
some new 2007 pics..check 'em out.
Hope everyone is doing well.
